I will be sharing my thoughts on how existing measures of fairness in #Healthequity (anti-classification, classification parity and calibration) suffer from statistical limitations and can, perversely, harm the very groups they were designed to protect, providing little guarantee that decisions are equitable. Designing equitable AI algorithms requires grounding technical and policy discussions of fairness in terms of real-world consequences, decoupling the statistical problem of risk assessment from the policy problem of designing interventions, and building interpretable models for risk. Life Singularity’s Remote Patient Monitoring / Health Kiosks address health inequities at the frontline in communities for Identifying Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) and Community Level Interventions leveraging Empathetic Non-Player Characters (NPCs) as Community Health Worker Extension Models for Undiagnosed Patient Engagement and #NFTs and #digitaltwins for addressing GDPR Community data minimization requirements.
COVID-19 self-reported symptoms can provide additional insights into exposure history, recoveries, and re-infections. Monitoring key symptoms of COVID-19 in Asymptomatic/Symptomatic patients with real-time surveillance for viral infections would be key in early detection and understanding of patient risk trajectory.

This session examined the next frontier in health – applying emotions to virtual humans to create interactive, AI-driven 3D avatars that work within virtual worlds and offer patients virtual therapies. Virtual reality content is being designed to manipulate mood in lieu of access to human psychologists to potentially help alleviate depression, stress, anxiety, interpersonal conflict, isolation, fatigue, confinement and other psychological challenges. Such multimedia programs use problem-solving and cognitive behavioral therapies to simulate a human presence through the use of virtual therapists. The system provides feedback based upon the information the user provides and helps patients develop action plans to address stress or depression.
